Yoga – The path to freedom

    Yoga is an ancient Indian philosophy and way of life, where complete harmony between body and mind is achieved by special exercise (Asanas), breathing excercises (Pranayama) and meditation. Yoga is the product of thousand years of research done by Rishis in ancient India. The aim of yoga is to live a healthy, joyful living and attain self-enlightenment. Yoga means to unite with the source of our own being.

   In yoga through practices of holding a variety of body positions Or asanas, and the centering of the mind and breath in a meditative way, the practitioner increases body awareness, posture, flexibility of body and mind and calmness of spirit.

  Yoga is that which joins the verbal root as ‘yuj’ in samskrta means joining. In traditional terminology it is joining of the individual self, jivatma with the universal self, Parramatta. The expansion of the narrow constricted egoistic personality to an all pervasive, eternal and blissful state of reality. Yoga is a science that deals with body, breath, mind, soul, and ultimately, the universe itself. It is both practical and theoretical.
